Carson City school pathologist gets scholarship for speech therapy

Taylor Mandelli, speech pathologist at Mark Twain Elementary School in the Carson City School District, recently received the Apple Award from the Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma Nude in the amount of $100.
Delta Kappa Gamma is an educational organization of teachers supporting other teachers.
Mandelli plans to use the award to help fund and build an inventory of engaging and enjoyable speech-language pathology materials focused on language development for students in kindergarten through second grade. This age group typically benefits from colorful and fun visuals to help learn vocabulary and learn to be effective communicators, Mandelli said.
Mandelli joined the Carson City School District in October. Previously, she had worked in healthcare, primarily in the geriatric community for the first three years of her career.
The Nu Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society was founded on May 19, 1978. Its membership consists of female educators from Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey counties. Members make a difference in education around the world through various projects, both internationally and at the chapter level.
