Emily Nygren, of Duluth, graduating from the University of New Hampshire in December. She earned a master’s degree in community development policy practice.

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater announced the following scholars receiving financial scholarships for the 2021-22 academic year.

  • Hailey Marshall, of Solon Springs, who studies general affairs, won the general merit scholarship.
  • Nathalie Prochazka, from higher education, who is studying psychology, won the faculty endowment.
Staff members from the Willow River area school fill five carts full of treats that were purchased, packaged and delivered in time for the adopted families’ holiday celebrations.

Willow River Area School Staff donated over $1,500 to the annual Adopt a Family Committee in December. The committee was able to provide gifts to six of the families in their school district. Pictured are shoppers with the five carts full of goodies that were purchased, wrapped and delivered in time for the adopted families’ holiday celebrations.

Knights of Columbus Chisholm Council 3539 successfully completed his collection of coats. The coats collected were taken to the Chisholm Food Shelf in Chisholm and the Salvation Army in Hibbing. Grand Knight Jedediah Holewa was reminded of the need for the coats and the Chisholm Food Shelf in Chisholm and the Salvation Army in Hibbing showed their appreciation to Knights of Columbus Chisholm Council 3539 for bringing them the coats.
