Field hockey ready to take on Colgate, Northeastern

Boston University Field Hockey will honor its senior class and put its undefeated Patriot League record on the line when it hosts Colgate on Saturday (October 8). Game time at Harvard’s Berylson Family Field is set for 1 p.m.

It will be a two-game weekend for the Terriers as they visit Crosstown rival Northeastern on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. in Dedham.


  • BU is coming off a 2-1 win back then. 25 Americans on Saturday
  • Senior Caroline Kelly was named Patriot League Goaltender of the Week on Monday after recording eight saves in the win over the Eagles.
  • First-year student Amalia Preece broke a 1-1 tie and earned his second PL Rookie of the Week honor of the season.
  • Senior Mikayla Crowley assisted on both goals and kicked things off by setting up junior Tess Csejka for his team-leading seventh goal of the season.
  • Graduate student Casey Thompson has a team record five assists.
  • BU have had the exact same starting line-up in all 11 games so far this season.
  • Kelly has started every game and she has played in all 60 games in the last three games and currently has a .768 save percentage which ranks her 17th nationally.


  • The Raiders have won two of their first three games, but are currently on a nine-game skid.
  • They recently lost a 2-1 home decision to Vermont in double overtime on Sunday.
  • Colgate’s league losses have come to American and Bucknell.
  • Junior Ella Murphy leads the team in points with 11 of four goals and three assists.
  • Freshman Dani Palmer also had four goals while junior Rachel Alderfer scored three times and added three defensive saves.
  • Senior Anna Unger has started all 12 games and has a 4.00 goals-against average and .624 save percentage.


  • BU are 20-1 against the Raiders with the only loss coming in the first-ever encounter in 1983.
  • Last season, the Terriers picked up a 3-1 road win over Colgate.


  • The Huskies have lost six of their last seven games, but the lone win came in their CAA opener, a 2-1 double-overtime win at Hofstra on Sept. 30.
  • Northeastern’s other victory came against Stonehill on September 4.
  • Junior Mak Graves leads the Huskies in points (14) and goals (6) while rookie Emmy Stubbs had 11 points on the strength of five goals.
  • Rookie Emilia Adragna has a team-high 36 shots and has 10 points on four goals and two assists.
  • In goal, graduate student Jonna Kennedy has appeared in all 10 competitions and currently has a 2.87 goals-against average and .696 save percentage.


  • It’s one of the most competitive rivalries in college field hockey, with the Huskies holding a 28-25 advantage in 53 all-time meetings.
  • BU enjoyed a five-game winning streak in the series last year in a 2-1 loss at Dedham.


  • BU will travel to Lafayette for a Patriot League contest next Saturday, October 15.
  • Game time in Easton is set for noon.
