Five-star combo forward Traore signs with Auburn

AUBURN, Alabama – Five-star men’s basketball rookie Yohan Traore (pronounced YO-WON Trey-OAR) has officially signed with Auburn.

The 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward from Dream City Christian School is one of the nation’s top prospects. He is currently ranked No. 8 overall for the Class of 2022 by Rivals and Sports Illustrated and No. 15 by 247Sports.

Traore is also Arizona State’s highest ranked player. He previously played Prolific Prep at Napa Christian High School in Napa, California. Last summer, Traore played AAU basketball with Dream Vision averaging 25 points and 14 rebounds per game as the team won the adidas Boys 3SSB Championship.

“I’m so happy to welcome Yohan to the Auburn family,” head coach Bruce Pearl mentioned. “I have great respect for players like Yohan, who come to the United States to pursue their academic and athletic dreams away from their families. Talk about a cultural fit for our program. Yohan is humble and hungry. He’s Incredibly disciplined, a hard worker and eager to be trained, he has enormous potential due to his effort, attitude, size and skill level. Wes Flanigan did an outstanding job leading his recruiting at Auburn.”

He is the second highest ranked freshman in program history behind All-American, SEC and National Freshman of the Year. Jabari Smith (No. 5). Auburn has now signed top-10 rookies in consecutive years and Traore is the fourth five-star player Pearl and his coaching staff have left high school.

A native of Tours, France, Traore joins an Auburn signing class that includes Tre Donaldson, a 6-foot-2 guard from Florida State University School, and Chance Westry, a 6-foot-6 guard from AZ Compass Prep. School.

A member of the France U15 and U16 teams, Traoré has received invitations to participate in the Nike Hoop Summit (2022), Allen Iverson Roundball Classic (2022), Pangos All-American Camp (2021) and NBPA Top 100 Camp (2021).
