THATCHER – The Jets, a Grammy-nominated family band that topped the charts in the 1980s with hits like ‘Crush on You,’ ‘You Got It All’ and ‘Make It Real,’ will perform live at Fine Arts at Eastern Arizona College Auditorium on February 19 at 7 p.m. Proceeds from this event will go to scholarships for Polynesian students enrolled at the EAC.

Discovered in Minneapolis, The Jets are made up of siblings who hit the music scene as teenagers and shot straight to the top of the charts. Hailing from the island kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific, the Jets have international appeal, attracting fans from around the world.

“This production is perfect for all ages and is part of our fundraising activities for Polynesian students,” said EAC President Todd Haynie. “Almost 700 Pacific Island students have attended EAC over the past 20 years. Proceeds from this event will help even more islanders enroll in the EAC to set themselves up for lifelong success.

Originally made up of eight members of a Tongan family of 17 siblings, the Jets have had eight top 10 hits on the dance, pop, R&B and adult contemporary charts. Their first studio album went platinum in 1985 and their songs are still playing on radio stations across America today.

Admission to the Jets is $20-$30. There is a discount for full-time EAC students with ID. For tickets, visit the EAC website at www.eac.edu and click on “get tickets”. A sale is scheduled, but all remaining tickets will be available at the door.
