MGOLF promotes Bjerch-Andresen to associate head coach

WACO, TXBaylor Men’s Golf Coach Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen has been promoted to associate head coach, as the head coach announced on Wednesday Mike McGraw.

Entering his third season as a coach at Baylor, the four-time winner (2012-15) helped the Bears win three tournaments, a playoff berth and several individual honors. Since his time at Texas Tech, where he spent the last two seasons as associate head coach, he has coached six All-Americans.

“I’m thrilled for Mikkel,” McGraw said. “He loves this university and is a terrific coach, so it just made sense in the world.”

Last season, Bjerch-Andresen helped guide BU to victory in the Bear Brawl, the program’s first event held in Waco since 2005. Under his leadership, Junior Johnny Keefer earned All-American honors from Golfweek and the Golf Coaches Association in addition to All-Big 12 and Big 12 Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. Keefer also qualified as an individual for the NCAA Normandy Region, becoming the second Bear to compete as an individual in the NCAA playoffs.

In his first season as an assistant with the Bears, Bjerch-Andresen helped the team win a second Big 12 Match Play title. The Bears followed up that performance with a win at the Rice Invitational to open the spring semester. The victory was highlighted by a final 275 to seal a six-stroke victory over the University of Houston.

In 2022-23, Bjerch-Andresen and McGraw again host an experienced roster that returns 79.5% of its stroke play rounds played in 2021-22, led by Keefer.
