Applications for the City of Cambridge Scholarship 2022 are currently been accepted. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Annual Scholarship Fund which provides financial assistance to high school seniors and other Cambridge residents who wish to pursue post-secondary education. For the first time in the program’s history, applicants can submit their application entirely online at Cambridgema.gov/cityscholarship.
In 2021, the City of Cambridge awarded 80 scholarships of $3,000 each for a total of $240,000. Since the program’s inception in 1993, the city has awarded 1,188 scholarships totaling $2.9 million. With the cost of higher education rising, these scholarships help ease the financial burden for many Cambridge individuals and families.
Below are the eligibility requirements for scholarship applications:
- Must be a Cambridge resident; (All ages may apply);
- Must be attending, have been admitted to, or have a pending application at an accredited educational institution beyond the secondary level by the May 2022 award date;
- The scholarship is paid directly to the educational institution and must be used during the 2022-2023 academic year;
- Past recipients are NOT eligible as the City Scholarship is unique.
The City of Cambridge Scholarship Fund is administered by the Department of Finance. A Fellowship Committee, made up of six Cambridge residents appointed by the Cambridge City Manager, reviews all applications and selects fellows. Applications are assessed and ranked based on academic achievement, financial need, community and extracurricular activities, and special circumstances.
Interested residents can apply in line and obtain the appropriate signatures before submitting it for review. The deadline for the 2022 scholarship application and all supporting documents will be March 7, 2022.
