QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University campus will come alive on Monday, August 15, as freshmen begin arriving for their set-up and orientation day.

Designed to help new students acclimate better to campus life, orientation is the first step to success at QU. Through a series of sessions, students are introduced to the QU House system and learn about service learning, staying healthy, resources for success in the classroom, and services available on campus. The QU House system is entering its third year, designed to transform the student experience at university, with each QU student being part of a close-knit house community.

Orientation for new students focuses on Success by Design rotations, providing each student with the opportunity to participate in various academic, social, cultural, and spiritual sessions. Guidance provides each student with an individualized success plan and a series of college-wide programs to help students graduate on time and fully prepare for a career or further education. Freshmen work with orientation officers who guide them through their first week on campus.

During orientation, students will participate in team building activities and learn about Franciscan values. The orientation also features the nationally renowned organization Playfair, which provides new students with a high-energy, interactive experience, and Ryan Tanner, a native of Quincy, who will share his story of overcoming adverse situations and reaching the pinnacle of success. .

Students will be welcomed back with a variety of facility upgrades over the summer break. This includes classroom renovations, residence hall updates, weight room upgrades, roof replacement and Greek Row housing renovations.

Returning QU students will begin check-in on Saturday, August 20, and classes will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, August 22. Official registration numbers will be released after the add/drop period on Friday, August 26.
