Vaulters Notch Personal Records in Blacksburg

BLACKSBURG, Va. — A pair of pole vaulters made headlines Saturday as North Carolina track and field teams competed on the second and final day of the Virginia Tech Invitational. The meeting, hosted by the Hokies at Rector Field House, opened the indoor season for the Tar Heels.

In the men’s pole vault, Ben Finger twice set new personal bests, clearing five yards twice and finishing the day at 16-10.75 (5.15), ninth in UNC indoor history. He placed second that day and was the top collegiate competitor.

In the women’s pole vault, Alex Potts also had the best of his life with a high of 13-5 (4.09), tied for fourth in the UNC record books and good for third on the day.
