The Wellington Community Foundation Board of Directors was thrilled to return to an in-person event for its annual Appreciation Night, held Thursday, May 12 at the Boynton Financial Group office on South Shore Blvd.
This was a special event to thank donors, sponsors, foundation volunteers and this year’s newest initiative, Friends of the Foundation. “We only exist because of them,” said WCF President Tom Wenham. “Tonight we celebrate the wonderful people who have made our organization successful and growing, and we owe them everything.”
The evening was hosted by Board Member Joanna Boynton and the Boynton Financial Group team. Joanna and her husband Ben Boynton both invited foundation members and guests to an evening of hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, topped off with delicious treats from Christy’s Bakery. The foundation’s long-time supporters, Star Wine & Spirits, donated four different types of quality wines for the foundation’s guests to enjoy.
During the special event, guests were able to meet and hear about this year’s 2022 Arle & Ken Adams Fellowship recipients. Joanna Boynton and Board Member James Seder chaired this year’s scholarship committee. They presented $2,500 scholarships to Miles Wang from Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Ryann Bierman from Wellington High School and Isabella Whedbee from Palm Beach Central High School. The three winners, who attended the appreciation night, were chosen by the scholarship committee and presented to the full board for consideration, where they were unanimously approved. “While the foundation received many eligible applications, these three stood out above the rest, and we know they epitomize everything the Adams Fellowship is for,” Seder said. “We know they will continue to do great things, and we look forward to them keeping us updated on their progress.”
