Women’s soccer announces recruiting class of 2022

NORFOLK, Virginia. – The head coach Angie Hind and the Old Dominion Women’s Soccer program announced an eight-member recruiting class on Tuesday. A newcomer class that has a mix of freshmen, internationals and transfers.

HIND ON RECRUITMENT CLASS

“This incoming class for 2022 is the largest we’ve had and also took us the longest to complete,” Hind said. “We’ve lost a large group of seniors this year, who obviously graduated winning a championship and no doubt left the program in a better place. It’s so important to us as a program that we continue to grow, not only to maintain our level of play and success, but I hope to go further every year.”

“Therefore, to find a way to do that, we felt it was so important to be patient and find not only the right talent, but also the right people to continue this program in the right direction,” he said. she declared. “As a team, we are thrilled to have this talented group of young women join our team and our family, and we really look forward to their arrival and being on the pitch working with them every day.”

HIND IN A YOUNG TEAM FROM THE 2021 CHAMPIONSHIP

“While we may be considerably younger this year, we believe the level of talent in our squad continues to grow and I hope our senior players can help instill our culture of hard work, dedication and contribution. to the winning mentality of our group. As always, we have a diverse group of young women who come from great footballing states here and great footballing nations abroad. They all not only bring different qualities of football with them, but also different levels of experience and unique personalities. We welcome them enthusiastically to ODU and our women’s soccer program and family.”

Andrea Balcazar Algarin

Position: Midfielder

Hometown: Mexico City, Mexico

Previous clubs: FC Pachuca

HIND ON ALGARIN: “Andy is a great young talent and has exceptional individual skills as well as a winning mentality and a desire to compete. Having played with Mexico’s youth national teams, she has another level of experience which we hope , will help him settle in quickly here at ODU. An exciting player who we believe will add a different dimension to our offense.”



Jenna Daveler

Position: Defender

Hometown: Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Previous clubs: PA Classics, Georgia

HIND ON DAVELER: “Jenna is a tough, aggressive defender who has such a great winning mentality. She is athletic, calm on the ball and has the ability to move forward well to support the attack. Throughout the process, Jenna has shown her strong desire to be a monarch. and we are thrilled to have her join this program. She has the winning mentality, work rate and desire that underpins our culture here.

Position: Midfielder

Hometown: Berlin, Germany

Previous clubs: FC Union Berlin

HIND ON FREDRICH: “Carolin is a very composed player who has great vision and an ability to play an appealing style of football, something that is important to us. She also has experience in the German national youth team and therefore being at this level brings additional experience to her game. Her style of play and ability to resolve pressure as a central player will continue to add a lot of depth to our talented midfield unit.”



Addie Galek

Position: Midfielder

Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina.

Previous clubs: FC Malaga City, Spain

HIND ON GALEK: “Addie has spent the last year in Spain playing in an environment that has helped her develop her understanding of a European style of play. She has good passing range and can move the ball well showing a good conscience possession and building. Once again Addie has shown such a desire to be a part of this program and we are delighted that she has done so as we believe she will add more midfield options to our team and will fit in easily given our possession style of play.”



Thalia Morissi

Position: Midfielder

Hometown: Massapequa, NY

Previous clubs: East Meadow ECNL

HIND ON MORISI: “Thalia is an incredibly talented and technical football player with great vision and an ability to create in the final third. potentially play in a few positions within our attack. We are delighted to add his unique qualities to this programme.”



Madison Micheletti

Position: Striker

Hometown: Islip, New York

Previous clubs: SUSA ECNL

HIND ON MICHELETTI: “Madison is a strong, aggressive striker with the ability to receive the ball under pressure and relate well to others. She has fantastic competitiveness in her game, an attribute that fits our style of play and mentality so well. -selfless player who we believe will add a lot to our attacking options this season”



Gaby Systra

Position: Midfielder

Hometown: Little Falls, New York

Previous program: Richard Bland College

HIND ON SYLSTRA: “Gaby is a strong and competitive player who has good qualities on the ball and the versatility to offer herself in a few positions. She has college experience of scoring goals, as well as that experience is a winning mentality which will help her to offer a lot to this class and program this season.A hardworking player who has shown a great desire to be a monarch, we are excited to see what she will bring to our team.



Anna Toersloyev

Position: Striker

Hometown: Copenhagen, Denmark

Previous program: UTRGV

HIND ON TOERSLOEV: “Anna is a very exciting wide player with great technical ability and has already shown her ability to make an impact at the collegiate level. She can create and score goals and is an incredibly determined and hard-working player who we think can really have an impact. impact our offense and bring a different dimension. Adding experience to this class and this team is something we’re excited to get from Anna this year as well as well.”
